Where Dreams Come True: A Disney Tale

“Thanks to the benefits of being enrolled in the OPWDD Self-Direction Program, administered by fiscal intermediary DDI, Alexia had the incredible opportunity to visit Disney World in early October.  Alexia’s Comm Hab worker accompanied her to Orlando, assisting her with navigating her air travel. She stayed at the newly opened Bay Lake Towers, where she had prime views of the Magic Kingdom fireworks and water parade.

In the parks, Alexia’s dedicated staff helped her integrate into the festive community, where she made friends while waiting on lines.  She also assisted Alexia with managing the extensive food options at each park, as well as helping her with introductions to the characters.

Alexia was overjoyed!  Her favorite was the Roundup Rodeo in Hollywood studios, where she hilariously joined fellow diners in “freezing” each time Andy appeared.

Due to the heat wave, Alexia and her staff chose to attend the many shows.  Attending shows and musicals is one of Alexia’s favorite pastimes.

As parents of an adult with such special needs, it is heartwarming to see Alexia living her best life!”
