Ryan is a Boy Scout with Troop 113 from Centerport, New York, and with the help of troop volunteers and donors, he was able to lead the group to the successful completion of a playhouse for the campus’ outdoor classroom.

Ryan is also a former DDI Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) student and graduated in 2010 from the Starting Early Program (currently named Early Childhood Services).

He was so thankful for the preschool experience and support he received from DDI that he did not hesitate when choosing the agency for his Eagle Scout project.

“I am dedicating this playhouse to the students of DDI. Along with this dedication, I have named the playhouse ‘The Eagle’s Nest.’ The eagle’s nest refers to a place of nurturing and shelter, much like this school. I hope this playhouse provides a fun, safe space for kids at DDI to grow, and when they are ready, they will spread their wings and soar like an eagle on their own life’s journey,” said Ryan

The playhouse is a durable, spacious structure complete with windows, a little porch and railing, and even has a chalkboard inside. It is perfect for the children to explore new skills and enjoy the outdoors.

On behalf of the students and staff at DDI, we wish to extend our sincerest appreciation to Ryan and the entire Wenz family. We are honored to be a part of this prestigious milestone achievement and proud of Ryan’s ongoing commitment to the Boy Scouts of America and his community.
