Tivoni began her journey with the DDI family in April 2001 and is now an Adult Residential Program Manager. “I love to see our individuals grow and blossom,” Carruthers said.

Tivoni is also passionate about cooking! Below, she shared one of her favorite recipes. It’s a delicious greens recipe. This recipe is a traditional dish found in Black culture that you would expect for a holiday or get-together. The recipe was handed down in her family for generations, and Tivoni enjoys recreating the dish and trying new and different foods. “Cooking lets me become part of a whole other world. Smelling the aromas just does something for me – just makes me smile,” Carruthers shared.

It is important to Tivoni that we celebrate Black History Month because we are all created equal. “Black people come from all over and have helped this world become what it is,” said Carruthers. “It’s time to embrace what we have done as a people.” We are grateful for Tivoni’s selfless dedication to the adults in her care and for sharing her passionate and impactful voice.
