The IGA Nephropathy Foundation of America Funds Innovative Career Skills Curriculum for DDI's Children's Day Program

Hosted at The Muttontown Club in East Norwich, 50% of funds raised were donated to DDI’s Children's Day Program (CDP). Karl Ramjeet, one of the event organizers, who has a daughter that attends DDI and a CRP resident said, “I am so grateful to the people who attended the IGAN/DDI Golf Outing for their support. Their generosity will help hundreds of students with autism and other developmental disabilities learn vocational skills which are critical for success in the future.  I would like to specifically mention Stu Gelbard and Oscar Ramjeet for their ongoing support and very generous sponsorships.”

John Marsala, IGA Nephropathy Foundation of America, Inc. board member presented DDI with a check in the amount of $15,000 which will complete the purchase the Practical Assessment and Exploration System (PAES), an innovative career skills curriculum.

The PAES Lab is a research-based functional skills curriculum and assessment system. It transforms a classroom into a simulated work environment where individuals learn work-related problem-solving skills, proper work behavior, knowledge of job skills and more for future employment. PAES provides a comprehensive assessment of functional skill levels, career interests, aptitude for community-based opportunities, and work behavior strengths and needs while using authentic and performance-based activities.

Mary Hoffman, director of the Children's Day Program, commented, " By adding a Practical Assessment and Evaluation System (PAES) lab DDI students will be able to learn skills in the vocational areas of business and marketing, consumer services, industry and construction, and processing and production using the data-driven PAES curriculum. The completion of the PAES Lab has been made possible by IGA Nephropathy Foundation of America.”
