Holiday Appeal

holiday giving
A big THANK YOU to everyone for your generosity over the past year. 2020 has been very challenging for everyone and your kindness has provided vital program resources and a tremendous boost to staff morale.
During this holiday season, we ask you to consider making another donation. Your gift will enable DDI to continue helping more than 1,500 Long Islanders with autism and other developmental disabilities experience personal growth and fulfillment.
We ask you to consider the following priority programs when making your donation:
People inspired by purpose
2020 has been a particularly challenging year as we dealt with the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic and Tropical Storm Isaias. Despite the difficulties, DDI staff members have shown the utmost dedication to the people they support, often putting their personal lives aside. With your help, we will be able to recognize and reward their efforts. Please make a donation in support of DDI's Staff Recognition, Celebrations and Awards Program.

Building a dignified and safe environment

One of the most critical aspects of DDI’s early intervention and preschool programs is hand washing and toilet training. Hand hygiene is one of the most important elements of infection control practices. Additionally, the ability to use a restroom independently is a determining factor in the attainment of higher levels of personal dignity and independence, transition to kindergarten, and reintegration into school districts. Your donation will enable us to upgrade some of the hand washing and restroom facilities at DDI’s three Early Childhood Facilities in order to assist the learning experience.

Power of safety and security

2020 has been an especially difficult year for DDI residents. Many have medical issues or use electricity-dependent equipment, and it is essential for their well-being that they have an uninterrupted electricity supply to meet their needs. Additionally, it is imperative that safety equipment such as door alarms, fire detection devices, and lifesaver equipment remain operational at all times. Your donation will help to replace 20 portable generators with whole-house generators, and thus ensure the continuity of supply.
